Digital pulse reflectometer is used as a standalone low voltage pulse reflectometer or as a part of high voltage test equipment to identify the type of the underground cable damage and to find the location of the damage on the cable. It can be used for characterizing the cables after initial installation or after repair.
- Hardware architecture
- PCB schematic and layout design (simulation, prototyping). Some of the critical blocks:
- a pulse generator (adjustable duration 10ns to 100us)
- 100MHz ADC converter including support circuits;
- Digital subsystems (memory, LCD, communications, storage, etc)
- Power management
- Firmware development, C-language:
- UI design and implementation
- signal processing
- peripherals interfacing (LCD, external memory, communications)
- Design of high-voltage interface devices for mobile test laboratory integration
- Field testing
